Representing 30+ high schools in the board of the Parent-Teacher-Student Association for promoting student interests to school, local and state administrators and lawmakers, and coordinating actions among parents, students and school chapters.
Achievements:

  1. Lobbied the district to replace single-use plastic in school cafeterias
  2. Hosted and moderated candidate forum for SCUSD Board of Trustees election
  3. Worked to bring mental health resources to all students in SCUSD schools

At the Artificial Intelligence Explainability and Accountability(AIEA) Lab, UC Santa Cruz, I lead a team of 5-6 fellow researchers in the area of large language model robustness. (See the ‘Publications’ tab for more)

As a designated student Senator at the University of Washington, I represent a constituency of around 1000 students in the university’s student governing body. I work with other senators to craft and vote on legislation that makes the campus more safe, sustainable, and a fun place to learn. Created a web app and Android app using Javascript and PHP that provides mental health guidance to teenagers, helps patients communicate with trusted people, and connects them with medical professionals. I created this to help my peers after recovering from my own suicide attempt.

Created an iOS app using Swift and Xcode that utilizes image classification and location tracking to identify where a user is and point out prominent geographic features in pictures the user takes. Integrated with rideshare and rental services to allow the user to build an itinerary.

Created an AI assistant that can be integrated into any website. The AI assistant is housed in a React+Express app that can be deployed by a Python interface. Uses state-of-the-art retrieval augmented generation (RAG) techniques to give end users the best experience.

Oceans are Listening: Our Foreign Policy Must Speak

Published:

In this TEDx speech to faculty and students at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, I lay out a novel 3-point foreign policy proposal and the foundations of an international agreement to combat plastic pollution. Many of my proposals coincided with the positions adopted by the countries at the UN Nairobi Conference a few years later.

The Importance of Computing in Sustainability Efforts

I was invited as a guest speaker to Principles of Sustainability (ESRM 300), a class at the University of Washington taught by Professor Lisa Graumlich. I spoke to students about the work I was doing with the CESA club on campus, as well as how computing can impact the fields of environmental and social advocacy.
